"L'insostenibile leggerezza dell'essere" è un progetto sulla fragilità e sulla precarietà delle emozioni umane. Passa al setaccio e cristallizza quel moto emotivo che spinge l'individuo a esprimere una richiesta, a fare un appello ad un altro suo simile. Questa è la ragione per cui le frasi sono perlopiù all'imperativo. Proprio perchè l'imperativo dell'animo sopravviene a quello della ragione e si manifesta una richiesta anzi, la si palesa come un ordine, un comando o una supplica o una richiesta gentile.

"The Unbearable Lightness of Being" is a project on the fragility and uncertainty of human emotions. It sifts and crystallizes that emotional impulse that drives the person to express a request - to make an appeal to the counterpart. This is the reason why clauses are mainly imperative. It is because the imperative of soul supervenes that of reason, and so a request is made -- it comes out as an order, a command, a plea, or, yet again, a gentle request.

Stretta in una situazione senza via d'uscita, strisciando invece di camminare con le sue gambe, ripugnante agli esseri umani che non hanno di lei nessuna pietà, Medusa decide per sè e si guarda allo specchio...
Pressed and with no way out, crawling instead of walking with her own legs, disgusting to pitiless humans, Medusa decides by and for herself and gazes at her reflection in the mirror...

Secondo il mito, Poseidone si era innamorato di Medusa quando ancora era una bellissima fanciulla. Una notte dunque il dio la sedusse (o la violò) nel tempio di Atena. Quest'ultima, profondamente irritata dall’affronto subito, aveva trasformato la fanciulla in un orribile mostro: le mani erano state trasformate in pezzi di bronzo; erano state fatte comparire delle ali d’oro e ricoperto il corpo di scaglie; i denti erano diventati simili alle zanne di un cinghiale; i capelli erano stati trasformati in serpenti ed al suo sguardo aveva dato la capacità di trasformare all'istante in pietra chiunque la guardasse negli occhi.

Rappresenta anche la perversione intellettuale.
According to the myth,  Poseidon had fallen in love with Medusa when she still was a beautiful maiden. One night the God had her (or raped her) in Athena's temple. The Goddess, deeply angered and outraged, turned the girl into a disgusting monster: her hands into pieces of bronze; there were golden wings on her back; her body was covered by flakes; her theeth similar to boar fangs. Her hair turned into snakes and her glance had the power to turn into stone anyone who dared to look into her eyes.
She also represents intellectual perversion.

Il cielo di sfondo è il cielo del film di Federico Fellini "L'intervista" del 1987, nella scena in cui i due decoratori in cannottiera, mentre stanno dipingendo uno scenario sereno spruzzato di qualche soffice nuvoletta estiva, hanno un dialogo surreale. Sotto questo cielo passeggiano Iris Steensma e Travis Brickle 

( rispettivamente Jodie Foster e Robert De Niro, personaggi del film "Taxi Driver", 1976,  di Martin Scorsese ). Di lato, da un bosco incantato, viene loro incontro un puledro di Unicorno.

The sky in the background is the same sky in Federico Fellini's movie "The interview", 1987. This sky appears in a scene where two painters are decorating a backdrop representing a clear blue sky in a sunny day, adorned by several soft and gentle summer little clouds: they're having an incredible surreal dialogue. Beneath this sky Iris Steensman and Travis Brickle ( Jodie Foster and Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese'movie "Taxi Driver", 1976) are having a walk. On one hand, a Unicorn colt steps towards them, out of an enchanted forest.

   

«La solitudine mi ha perseguitato per tutta la vita. Dappertutto. Nei bar, in macchina, per la strada, nei negozi… dappertutto. Non c’è scampo, sono nato per essere solo». Sono questi i pensieri che attraversano la mente di Travis Bickle.  Ogni tentativo di “apertura” viene mortificato, vanificato dall’altrui incapacità di capire e, quando occorre, tollerare personalità più ‘complesse’ della propria. Travis non si sente – non è – parte del mondo che lo circonda. Il mondo che lo circonda è “altro” da lui. Ed è un mondo troppo sporco per viverci.E questo solitario Adamo incontra la sua Eva in una prostituta di dodici anni, anch'essa sola ed innocente, e decide di unire al suo destino a lei.

Travis Brickle: " Loneliness has followed me my whole life, everywhere. In bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere. There's no escape... I'm God's lonely man." Any attempt to get out of his loneliness is mortified, frustrated by other people misunderstanding that can't put up with more "complex" characters. Travis doesn't feel, and it is not, part of the world surrounding him. He feels like he is in a world a part, a world of his own. The world is a really dirty place to live in. And this Adam meets his Eve as a 12 years old baby prostitute, lonely and innocent, and decides to wrap his destiny to her.

L'Unicorno è un animale immaginario, simbolo della penetrazione del divino nella creatura. Non è da tutti vederlo ed avvicinarlo: la leggenda vuole che l’Unicorno fosse un animale così puro che solo persone dall’animo puro e candido potessero avvicinarlo e che solo una vergine potesse ammansirlo. Nell'altro mondo Travis e Iris quindi non sono un pazzo omicida ed una prostituta minorenne , ma due creature innocenti e poetiche a cui l'Unicorno si mostra e si avvicina.

The Unicorn is an imaginery horse, it represents the divine penetration into a creature.Not everyone can see or approach it: the legend says that only with a pure and sincere mind it is possible to get close to it and only a virgin could ride it. In the other world Travis and Iris are not an insane killer and a baby pronstitute but two innocent and poetic creatures that the Unicorn approaches.

Ai loro piedi, dalla schiuma delle onde del mare, piccoli di tartaruga stanno uscendo dalle loro uova. La tartaruga ha diversi significati. In questa teca ho assunto quello in cui essa rappresenta la forza nascosta. Assomiglia un poco all'antichissimo silenzio della vita in cui, in caso di pericolo, ci si può sempre rifugiare.
At their foot, from the sea foam, baby turtles are coming out of their eggs. The turtle has different meanings. In this display case the animal stands for the inner force, the inner energy. It recalls the ancient very silence where, if in jeopardy, everyone of us can take shelter.

Questa teca è stata creata in occasionedi un matrimonio, traendo ispirazione dalle indicazioni datemi dagli sposi. Sono state fatte loro alcune domande: le loro risposte sono state la materia di cui questa teca ad personae è costruita. Il tema della cerimonia, avere le farfalle nello stomaco, è stato scelto dalla coppia.

This display case has been created on the occasion of a friends' marriage, inspired by their suggestions. I asked them a few questions: their answers has been the subject of the box dedicated to the couple. The ceremony's theme, to feel butterflies in the stomach, has been chosen by the bride and the groom.

Le farfalle per la teca sono tutte objet trouvé, la carta stampata e la carta adesiva sono fondi di magazzino. La miniatura della coppia di sposi trovata in una cesta di oggettini usati vari in un negozio dell'usato. 

Anche in questa circostanza ho cercato il più possibile di restare coerente con uno dei presupposti delle mie opere: utilizzare resti, residui,scarti, oggetti inutilizzati o inutilizzabili, "roba vecchia", ciarpame. L'inserimento di oggetti che non siano trovati è circoscritto alla condizione in cui un elemento specifico sia il protagonista essenziale di un concetto ( come il lupo della teca "In compagnia dei lupi", 2011 ). Comporre una teca attraverso la ricombinazione degli elementi, degli oggetti già esistenti, già fabbricati, già utilizzati in precedenza o di scarto ( cioè destinati alla raccolta rifiuti perchè vecchi, perchè rotti, perchè fuori uso, perchè ritenuti inutili ) è uno dei principali presupposti delle mie opere. Rivendico il diritto, a mò di licenza poetica, di adoperare oggetti nuovi: questi però vengono sempre stravolti, trasfigurati e non sono più ciò che erano in origine.

The butterflies participating the display case are found objects, the printed paper and the adhesive paper are job lots. The  wedding couple miniature has been found in a basket full of second hand little objects in a secondhand market.

Even in a dedicated, personalised display case, I try to do my utmost to be consistent with one of my work's premises: the use of remains, leftover, wastes, scraps, unused or useless objects, junk dealer objects, rubbish. The admission of new objects, not found ones, is circumscribed to the condition where a specific element is the basic and fundamental leading actor of a concept ( as for the joung wolf in "The company of wolves", 2011 ). One of the main premises to my work is to assemble an art box, a display case, through elements' reshuffle, recombining objects that already exist, that had been already manifactured, or used, that are assigned to rubbish ( because they are old, or broken, or rotten, or out of order, or simply worthless). As a poetic licence, I claim the right to use sometimes new objects: but these objects are always twisted, distorted, tranfigured and they are no more what they were originally.
