La polena era una scultura lignea rappresentante una figura umana, spec. femminile, un animale o un mostro fantastico, che si poneva come ornamento sulla prua delle navi   per proteggere i marinai durante la navigazione. Spesso tale presenza è simbolicamente rappresentata da un occhio apotropaico (cioè inteso ad annullare e allontanare influssi maligni), dipinto ai lati della prua per accentuare la protezione già assicurata dalla polena.La prua è infatti il punto cruciale della nave, intesa quasi come un elemento vivente, che si fa strada attraverso le acque infide. L’invenzione delle polene risalirebbe al 480 a.C. quando, a Salamina, il greco ateniese Licomede sacrificò al dio Hermes la prua della prima nave persiana catturata. La prua quindi acquistò un significato più pregnante, essa era la testa della nave, il suo cervello, il suo elemento vitale.

The polena - figurehead - was a wooden sculpture portraying a human figure, often a feminine one, an animal or an imaginery monster, employed  on the ship's front part as an ornament with the purpose to protect the sailors during the navigation. Many times symbolically it was also represented by an apotropaic eye ( namely meant as to counter and keep off evil spirits) painted on bow both sides thus enforcing the polena protection power. As a matter of fact the front is the most critical part of the ship, almost considered as a living being ploughing through treacherous waters. The polena invenction dates back to 480 b.C. when, at Salamina, Athenian Licomede sacrificed to god Hermes the front of the Persian seized ship, thus giving to this part a more important meaning: it became the head of the ship, its brain, its vital element. 

E alcuni uomini si fanno polene dei loro simili affrontando per primi verità e scandali, cercando di approdare in altre rive trascinandosi dietro la ciurma, subendo ammutinamenti e naufragi.

And so on, some human beings become polena for their own kind, being the first to face the truth and the scandals, trying to land at new shores dragging the crew, coming under mutinies and sinkings.

L'invenzione del lego è dovuta al falegname danese Ole Kirk Christiansen ( 1891-1958), che nel 1934 coniò per i suoi giocattoli il nome LEGO, prendendo ispirazione dalla locuzione in lingua danese leg godt ("gioca bene"). In italiano lego è la prima persona singolare dell'indicativo presente del verbo legare.

Abbiamo già due elementi: gioca bene e io ti lego.

Che può anche essere: io ti lego se non giochi bene.

Oppure: io mi lego se non giochi bene.

E anche: io mi lego solo se non giochi bene.

Ancora: se non giochi bene io non mi lego.

Inoltre: io gioco bene e ti lego.

Meglio ancora: io gioco bene e non ti lego.

The invention of the lego is due to the Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen ( 1891-1958), that , in 1934 gave to his toys the name LEGO, inspired from the Danish idiomatic expression leg godt ("play well"). In Italian lego means to tie, to bind, to rope. In Italian this can be a play on words LEGO, the game, and lego, I bind you.
 We already have two elements: gioca bene e io ti lego. ( If you play correctly  I will tie you to me)

That can be also: io ti lego se non giochi bene.(I bind you if you don't play correctly )

Or: io mi lego se non giochi bene.( I bind me to you if you don't play correctly with me)

And also: io mi lego solo se non giochi bene. ( I bind myself to you only if you don't play correctly)

Again: se non giochi bene io non mi lego.( If you don't play correctly I'm not going to tie me to you)

More: io gioco bene e ti lego.( As i do play correctly I bind you to me)

Better: io gioco bene e non ti lego. ( As I'm playing correctly I won't bind you to me)

Una teca esorcizzante, per allontanare il male che ci fa stare male. Lo sfondo è creato da sms, parole che bramano appartenere al passato, la cui data e l'ora di ricezione o invio è indicata dall'inchiostro rosso. Invece con l'inchiostro azzurro sono riportate due frasi da "Le avventure di Pinocchio" di Carlo Collodi; la storia di un burattino che per salvarsi raccontava un sacco di bugie, bugie di Pinocchio però!  L'ultima frase in inchiostro azzurro è una carta dei Tarocchi, il Bogey man, che indica che in fondo ci stiamo dando da fare per qualcosa o qualcuno che non è importante, perchè tanto non sa stare al gioco se non con le sue regolette.

An exorcising display case, to move away the pain that wounds. The words in the background comes from sms, words that belong to the past: with the red ink it is indicated the date and time they have been received. Instead the blue ink is used for two sentences: one is from "The adventures of Pinocchio" by Carlo Collodi, the story of a wooden puppet that used to tell little innocent lies to escape from troubles. The second sentence in blue ink refers to a Tarot card, the Bogey Man, that wants to tell us we are striving for something or someone not worth of it, because there are no rules in the game.

Nel dolore si sbircia, si guardano le parole che fanno soffrire da una fessura della finestra, poichè talvolta leggere le frasi d'impatto con tanta crudeltà arreca troppo dolore. Leggiamo le parole d'addio di chi si ama ancora come da bambini si vedevano i film dell'orrore , coprendosi gli occhi con la mano e sbirciando schiudendo appena lo spazio tra le dita.
Le streghe malvage di Ovest e Est sono arrivate nel paese dei balocchi.

When you're suffering for love, you peep at the words that hurts from the window chink, word by word, because may be the entire sentence can be so cruel when your heart is already broken. We read  the farewell words written by the person we're still in love with the way we looked at the horror movies when we were a child, covering the eyes with the hands and opening slowly little fissure among the fingers.
The witches from the West and the East have come in the land of toys.

C'è un'ambulanza, qualcuno è ferito al cuore. Ma questa è una teca esorcizzante, non rammemorante, quindi ci si salva, ci si cura e si guarisce.

There's an ambulance, someone got hurt, heart wounded. But this one is an exorcising display case, not a recollection one: so in the end you will be safe, you will be cured, you will be healed.

...è un  estratto dalla "The ballad of the Reading Goal", poema di Oscar Wilde, che divenne testo della canzone "Each man kills the things he loves" di  Peer Raben   , cantata da una superba Jeanne Moreau - la donna che non si può non amare- nel film "Querelle" ( 1982) di Rainer Werner Fassbinder, a sua volta ispirato al romanzo omonimo di Jean Genet. Queste son cose che lasciano senza fiato.
